Aware, Inc. Merges to Enhance Program Opportunities
One of the NEST Curriculum Providers, AWARE, Inc. is excited to announce that it will be merging its school-based programs with Northwest Family Services (NWFS) July 1, 2014. Through this partnership, AWARE programs will be able to continue serving youth that provide them with important tools on forming healthy relationships, media literacy, and the prevention of human trafficking involving community youth. This merge will allow AWARE programs to reach thousands of additional youth due to NWFS solid history with Portland schools and its capacity to develop and market curriculums and youth services here in the NW.
Northwest Family Services (NWFS) incorporated in July 1983 as an Oregon non-profit organization. Its primary focus is to support healthy marriages and successful youth. Its mission is to be in support of the overall well-being of children and family stability. NWFS is an award-winning organization, committed to collaborating to find creative solutions that reduce poverty. Last year, a total of 22,000 youth and their families were served by NWFS.
AWARE Inc. looks forward to joining efforts with Northwest Family Services and believes its mission will only be strengthened and expanded through this exciting partnership! Jim Grenfell, AWARE Executive Director, will remain active with NWFS board serving in an advisory capacity and will continue to provide ongoing leadership throughout the transition. Though he is relocating to a new job outside the area, he plans to stay connected to the great work being done throughout the anti-trafficking movement.
